Fast Fact: US House of Representatives

The United States House of Representatives is a part of the United States Congress  , which is a group of people elected to decide the laws of the country. Sometimes the House of Representatives is just called “the House”. At most, there are 435 members in the House of Representatives. These members are called US Representatives or just representatives. The leader of the House of Representatives is called the Speaker of the House. The political party   with the most representatives gets to choose the person who will be the Speaker.

The number of representatives from each state depends on the number of people in that state, but there is at least one US representative from each of the 50 states.

The other part of the US Congress is the US Senate  .
