The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is a United States government group that works to protect public health. They control food safety, tobacco, medicine, and cosmetics (makeup). The FDA helps make sure people follow US laws in these areas. The agency was started in 1906. The leader of the FDA is called the Commissioner of Food and Drugs.
