NFK Celebrates Two Amazing Years!

In mid February, NewsForKids.net reached a big milestone – its two-year anniversary. That’s over 700 daily articles on timely subjects, all written in a way that’s accessible and understandable.

In those two years, NFK has grown from a simple idea into a website visited by thousands of people every day, from countries all around the world.

While we’re very proud of NFK’s history, we’re also looking to the future and exploring ways to grow.

Beginning in March, we’ll be exploring some new ways of presenting the news to kids that we hope will provide a broader range of coverage while maintaining NFK’s accessibility for readers at many different levels.

So what sort of changes can you expect to see? To start with, we hope to be covering more than one story a day, so you can expect to see more stories. But we don’t want to overwhelm young readers, so most of the stories will be shorter.

In order to keep the articles comprehensible and yet short, more background information will be moved to resources like our Fast Facts and the on-hover glossary. We may also be adding new tools to provide additional contextual support.

What may be missing from some of the shorter articles is the broader background of the topic, which is something we’ve tried hard to include in our longer articles.

Though NFK will still have longer articles on important topics, these will probably run just once or twice a week.

We are also working on ways to bring more interactivity to the site.

At NewsForKids.net, we’re very proud of the work we’ve done over the last two years. We know we couldn’t have done it without your support. Thank you!

As always, if you enjoy the site, please spread the word!
