Many protesters were worried about possible efforts to cut popular programs like Social Security, Medicaid, and health care for veterans. Others were worried about cuts to education. Many people were upset about the way Mr. Trump is treating immigrants who are in the US legally.

During the protests, Mr. Trump was in Florida, playing golf. The White House said that Mr. Trump would continue to support programs like Social Security and Medicare.

The organizers of the protests say they are hoping to remind people that everyday life is getting much harder under Mr. Trump’s government. Many of the protesters are upset that Mr. Trump seems to be making life easier for rich people, while making life harder for regular Americans.
